Bright and Bold: The Skirt that Flirts in the Wind

I love this skirt!! It was love at first sight. I've been just dying to pull it out with all the bright colors in style this season however, today wasn't the most ideal day. It was windy to say the least. After leaving my house and feeling the wind jerk around my car I quickly turned around and slipped the tights on, they're surprisingly thick!

Let's start with the small things! My earrings and necklace are courtesy of my mother ($0+$0). I loved this necklace growing up, it's so simple and chic. The bag I got at an estate sale and the shoes were on sale at Macy's ($3+$30). The head band I bought last Christmas at Clair's and the tights are deceivingly tight but so far indestructible (no snags!) and they were discounted at Kohl's ($5+$12). My super fun skirt is from Macy's (discounted of course) and the teal (it's much less green than it looks) cardigan is from my trip to San Francisco a couple of St. Patty's days ago and forgot to pack something green ($25+$18)! And finally, but certainly not least, the crinkle crepe de chine blouse I made using one of my mother's McCall patterns from the '90's (I have yet to ad the shoulder pads)($7+$0). Whew! I think that's everything!
Total out of pocket: $100

Drenched in Cobalt: Night out in the Rain

I love wrapping my hair up in scarves like this! It's so cute and easy. I don't ever have to worry about a bad hair day! This rain jacket was perfect for yesterday, it didn't start raining till the afternoon so it was nice not to lug around a trench coat for my classes that morning.

From top to bottom. The scarf and earrings are thrifts ($1+$2). The oxford cotton button up and the rain jacket were on sale at Macy's ($20+$40). I got the Chanel inspired quilted faux leather black bag at an estate sale ($3).Finally, the pants and the boots were both gifts ($0+$0).
Total out of pocket: ($66)

White Denim Fix: Spring is Near!

I pulled out my white denim! It's been hitting (off and on) over 50 degrees so don't be afraid to pull out your flirty bright skirts, strappy sandals, and your white denim on those springy days. Don't forget to layer and accessorize for the chilly evenings like I did (excuse the strained smiles, my teeth were chattering a little)!

The green and black polk-a-dot Forever 21 blouse I grabbed from my mother's closet ($0). My white denim jeans are Guess I nabbed a couple years ago at TJMaxx ($30). Belt and bag are booth thifts ($1+$4), earrings, bracelets, and boots were all gifts ($0+$0+$0).
Total out of pocket : $35

Ps. You can expect more regular posts from me now! I've just bought a new camera so I wont have to rely on my numerous photographically talented friends (quite so much) Yay!

Balance, Rhythm, and Harmony

A balance of glamour and relaxed, I layered up for an over-night trip for friend's birthday, I stayed warm without being all covered up!

Some of my favorite piece here! Silk scarf, Western Leather bag (one of my greatest finds, only 4 bucks!), and Calvin Klein sweater are thrift items ($1+$4+$4). The earrings, a gift from my boss and Steve Madden boots, a birthday gift a few years back (probably my most prized fashion item I have) ($0+$0). The pants are I.N.C., got them discounted at Macy's and the Younique denim jacket is one of those things I've had for 8 years and am just getting around to wearing it ($45+$30).
Total out of pocket: $84

Putting in My First Ten Cents

Hello!

First blog. First post. It's going to take a little getting used to so please excuse the current state of Dress to the Nines on a Dime. Between work and school I hope I can get it looking swell in the next week. So just for now, adieu!
